The mission of the Presbyterian Intercultural Network is to serve the church by encouraging and nurturing its efforts to become the Beloved Community, reminding dominant groups to make their circle more inclusive, supporting marginalized people and groups as they seek to find their own voice and a place at the table, challenging our churches to fight against the racism and privilege that unevenly distribute power and warps relationships within and outside of the church, and calling faith communities to work for justice, fairness, and equality among all people.
"Dreaming of an Intercultural Church" - As people who dream dreams, who see clearly in our minds and hearts a vision of a church that is intercultural and culturally humble, and who passionately believe this has always been the divine plan for God's people, we are always looking for ways to keep the dream before the church so it may be brought to life.
"Working with you to make it happen" - We can't do it on our own. We can't do it for you or for the church. But we can and have and will continue to work with you to turn visions and dreams into reality. This website, and the resources we are providing on it, is one small part of that effort.
"Igniting a Movement" - As the song says, "it only takes a spark to get a fire going," especially if the wind of the Spirit is fanning the flames. We feel the heat of that fire, and see it warming hearts and sparking calls for justice. We feel that wind, and see the its power in changes that sometimes come as through quiet and gentle breezes, and sometimes like a mighty wind that turns our ways of looking at the world upside down, sweeps away harmful attitudes, cleans out negative assumptions, and makes room for new beginnings.
If you pass the spark along to others, the light will spread, the movement will catch fire, and the "Beloved Community" will blaze into life!
